The Federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 3601–3619) prohibits discrimination in housing based on the following protected characteristics:

California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and the Unruh Civil Rights Act provide additional protections beyond federal law. In California, housing discrimination based on the following is also prohibited:
- Marital status
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity and gender expression
- Source of income (including housing vouchers / Section 8)
- Ancestry
- Age (40 and over)
- Medical condition
- Genetic information
- Military or veteran status
- Immigration status
- Primary language
4. What Fair Housing Means in Practice
In our real estate practice, we are committed to:
- Showing all available properties to any qualified buyer regardless of protected characteristics
- Providing the same level of service and information to all clients
- Not steering clients toward or away from any neighbourhood based on its demographic composition
- Not making, printing, or publishing any statement that indicates a preference, limitation, or discrimination
- Providing reasonable accommodation to persons with disabilities
- Advertising all properties to the broadest possible audience
